The new Aviva Stadium staged its first game today with a Leinster/Ulster cruising to a 68-0 win over a Munster/Connacht selection.
With first half tries from Craig Gilroy, Luke Marshall (2), Andrew Boyle (2) and Sam Coughlan Murray. The second half seen Leinster/Ultser extend the lead with tries from Boyle, Gilroy, Connor Spence and Michael McAuley.

And they’re Off….. for the 2010 Galway Races
A predictably start to the first day racing at Ballybrit Galway with a win for Galway trainer Dermot Weld in the Hotel Meyrick Novice Hurdle for Force Of Habit with Paul Townsend onboard. For some all eyes were on the two-legged fillies meticulously dressed form head to toe in their finest, bringing some colour to a misty start of the week long the festival. Let’s hope the weather brightens for the big day on Thursday.
Guinness Our Thursdays, an exciting showcase for up and coming bands to win the opportunity to join the likes of Snow Patrol, Paolo Nutini and José González on the bill as part of this year’s Arthur’s Day celebrations. On September 23rd, the whole of Ireland will come together in yet another remarkable celebration, all built around great bands playing in great pubs.
After four magical years at the London Palladium, Broadway,Singapore and three years touring the UK, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is back and coming to Grand Canal Theatre, Dublin from 21st July – 14th August for her Irish Premiere!
Today I had the great pleasure of photographing the Aviva Stadium on a beautiful sunny Dublin morning with the smell of the fresh cut grass from the virgin soil of the former hallowed Lansdown Road. Hard to believe that only a few months ago I photographed it with a massive digger parked in the centre of it. The 50000 seated capacity stadium was opened by An Taoiseach, Mr Brian Cowen, TD, on14 May with the first fixtures Connacht/Munster rugby selection take on a Leinster/Ulster selection on 31 July, followed by an Airtricity League team playing Manchester United on 4 August. The first international will see Ireland’s soccer team playing former world champions Argentina on August 11. The first rugby international will see Ireland face current world champions South Africa on November 6.
I Look forward to photographing some historic games there.
Félicitations à Dax Restaurant winners of the 2010 Thomas Barton Bastille Day Petanque tournament in the Radisson Blu St. Helen’s Dublin. Thierry Pichot-Moise, Olivier Allain & Damien Kubler went on to win in spectacular style against Kinara Kitchen in the final.
