Following recent figures from the European Commission’s Eurobarometer (European Commission, Special Eurobarometer 385) witch revealed that Irish people start smoking at a younger age (16.4 years) than any of their European counterparts, Youth groups from 7 counties where keen to put their projects on the big screen to create awareness around the harms of smoking. The X-HALE Youth Awards this year took the form of an Oscar themed film premiere which saw 14 youth groups from around the country send a rallying call to their peers about the impact of smoking through the medium of film. I’ll Quit When I’m 30 | Dublin PR Photographer

Grace Batterberry the ex-smoker on Operation Transformation is pictured helping the Irish Cancer Society launch ‘I’ll Quit When I’m 30’ advertisements, its first major advertising campaign aimed specifically at young women who smoke. Coinciding with Ash Wednesday which is National No Smoking Day the Society encourages women to pick their quit date and then plan, prepare and get help in advance so that they can take control of their lives, their health and their looks.
